United Conservative Party Leader Jason Kenney today announced the first appointments of senior campaign staff for the 2019 election.
UCP Caucus Chief of Staff, Nick Koolsbergen, will become Campaign Director for the United Conservative Party. He will be charged with building and overseeing the United Conservative Party campaign team. Nick’s political and campaign experience includes serving as Christy Clark’s Chief of Staff, Executive Director of Caucus Communications and Research for the BC Liberal Caucus, Director of Issues Management for Prime Minister Stephen Harper, and serving in key roles on central party campaigns in Ontario, British Columbia, and at the national level. Nick will transition to this new role in September 2018.
Dimitri Pantazopoulos becomes Senior Strategic Advisor for the United Conservative Party Campaign. Dimitri is one of Canada’s leading public opinion researchers and an expert strategist for national political and business leaders. Dimitri has provided strategic advice and public opinion research to Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Premier Christy Clark, and Premier Doug Ford. Dimitri will be charged with public opinion research, advertising, and related functions for the United Conservative Party campaign.
Andrea Smotra becomes Director of Election Readiness for the United Conservative Party campaign. Andrea has extensive campaign experience with the Conservative Party of Canada, the Saskatchewan Party, and the Manitoba PC Party. Andrea served as Deputy Director of Issues Management for Premier Brian Pallister, Regional Affairs Advisor (Prairies) for Prime Minister Stephen Harper, and Director of the Minister’s Regional Office for Gerry Ritz. Andrea most recently served as Intergovernmental Strategist for the City of Red Deer. Andrea will be charged with helping nominated UCP candidates and their teams prepare for the 2019 election.
Janice Harrington continues to serve as Executive Director and Jeff Henwood continues to serve as Director of Political Operations, overseeing the United Conservative Party’s nomination process and party administration.
