TO Premier Danielle Smith and the United Conservative Party

WHEREAS the federal government’s reckless catch-and-release bail system is a national disgrace that threatens the safety of every community in Canada;

AND WHEREAS we watch with horror as homeowners in other provinces are treated like criminals and charged by police simply for defending their families from violent intruders;

AND WHEREAS we refuse to let that insanity take root here in Alberta;

AND WHEREAS you have taken decisive action to shield us from this federal failure by passing a Sovereignty Act motion that affirms our right to use reasonable force to defend our homes;

THEREFORE WE THE UNDERSIGNED

1. OFFER our total support for your decision to stand up to Ottawa and protect the safety of Alberta families.

2. REJECT the soft-on-crime agenda that has failed all of Canada.

3. DECLARE that our homes are off-limits to criminals and the justice system has no business punishing the victims.
