Your United Conservative government closed the 2025-26 fiscal year with a $2.2-billion surplus. It’s our fifth surplus in a row, and a sixth is projected for 2026.
What does that mean for you? We did it while cutting your taxes. The new eight per cent income tax bracket, introduced last year, is the lowest in the country. It saves individuals up to $750 and families up to $1,500 a year, so you kept more of what you earned in 2025.
A strong bottom line also means less of your money goes to interest. Alberta remained one of Canada’s least indebted provinces in 2025, with net debt down and lower debt servicing costs than the year before. That leaves more of your tax dollars for the everyday programs and services families rely on.
Alberta’s economy stayed strong, too. In 2025, jobs grew at the fastest pace in Canada, and Alberta’s population grew faster than anywhere else in the country.
We’re also saving for the future. The Alberta Heritage Savings Trust Fund reached a record of more than $32 billion, and it’s on track to reach $35 billion in 2027. All of its income stays in the fund to keep growing. Your United Conservative government will keep managing carefully to protect front-line services and build a stronger Alberta for generations to come.
Alberta closed the books on 2025-26 with a $2.2 billion surplus and the Heritage Savings Trust Fund finished the year at a record high of more than $32 billion.
