Grant Hunter was sworn in as Alberta’s Minister of Environment and Protected Areas on January 2, 2026. He previously served as Associate Minister of Water, Associate Minister of Red Tape Reduction, and as Parliamentary Secretary for Agri-Food Processing, bringing a practical, results-driven approach to each role.
An entrepreneur for much of his professional life, Grant has a deep understanding of small business and the realities facing job creators across Alberta—experience that continues to inform his work in government.
Grant was first elected to the Legislative Assembly in 2015 and was re-elected in 2019 and 2023, proudly representing the riding of Taber-Warner.
