Ms. Sawhney was first elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Calgary-North East on April 16, 2019 and was elected the Member for Calgary-North West on May 29, 2023. She currently serves as Minister of Indigenous Relations, and previously served as Minister of Advanced Education, Minister of Trade, Immigration and Multiculturalism, and Minister of Community and Social Services.
Prior to her election, Ms. Sawhney worked in the oil and gas industry for over twenty years in a variety of roles in economics and business development and served as the Vice President of Business Development for Fracture Modeling Inc. Born and raised in Calgary, Ms. Sawhney is a mother of four, an activist, and an engaged community volunteer. Rajan attended the University of Calgary, earning a degree in Economics and Political Science as well as an MBA.
