More time and attention for your kids in the classroom. Your United Conservative government is investing $200 million through the new Class Size Reduction Grant to reduce class sizes from kindergarten to Grade 9 in the 2026-27 school year.
Almost 90,000 students have joined Alberta’s classrooms in just four years. Growing, more complex classes make it harder for teachers to give students the support and attention they need. The grant supports hiring more than 1,400 teachers in grades K-9.
What does that mean for you? Smaller classes make a real difference for students and teachers, especially in the early and middle grades. Every public, separate and francophone school authority gets funding, and classroom-level data directs more of it to schools with the biggest class sizes.
It’s part of a bigger push. Over the past year, Premier Danielle Smith’s government has been hiring more teachers, adding more educational supports and creating more student spaces across the province. This grant builds on funding invested in February to address class size and complexity, and we’ll keep making targeted investments as classrooms grow.
More teachers, smaller classes and more support for students. That’s your United Conservative government getting the job done for Albertans.
Alberta’s classrooms are growing fast, and parents and teachers have made it clear that class size matters.
