More jobs, new markets for our energy and more support for the schools and hospitals you rely on. On October 1, the proposed oil pipeline to the west coast, now called Pacific Link, was listed as a project of national interest under the Building Canada Act.
Pacific Link will move one million barrels of oil per day to Canada’s west coast and expand access to growing markets across the Asia-Pacific region. During construction, it will create up to 140,000 jobs at its peak, mostly in Alberta and British Columbia.
What does that mean for you? Over the roughly 50-plus years the pipeline will operate, Treasury Board and Finance estimates Alberta will receive more than $265 billion in additional royalties. That revenue will help support the schools, hospitals and essential services you rely on. Pacific Link will also grow Canada’s economy by more than $20 billion a year once it’s operating.
Next, the Major Projects Office will work with the Canada Energy Regulator through a streamlined review to issue a conditions document by Sept. 1, 2027. After that, construction can begin.
Your United Conservative government, under Premier Danielle Smith’s strong leadership, has fought successfully to remove most of the Trudeau-era bad laws that were hurting Alberta’s economy. Now, investing is pouring into Alberta, new pipelines are being built, and we’re well on our way to meeting Premier Smith’s goal of doubling oil production.
A pipeline moving forward, jobs and revenue for the services you count on. That’s your United Conservative government getting the job done for Albertans.
Alberta’s Pacific Link pipeline is officially a project of national interest. This means the permitting process is fast tracked and we can reach our goal to get final construction permits approved by September of next year!
