Alberta is building more homes than ever before, and because of that, life is getting more affordable for you.
While other parts of the country struggle to get shovels in the ground, Alberta is setting new records. In 2025, our province led the entire country in housing starts per capita. We built over 53,000 new homes, smashing our previous record by 14 per cent.
More Homes, Lower Rents
The result of all this building is simple. Rents are going down.
Because our United Conservative government focused on cutting red tape and getting homes built fast, supply is catching up with demand.
- Rents in Alberta dropped by nearly double the national average last year.
- Albertans are paying about $400 less per month than the average Canadian renter.
- We have six of the top 10 most affordable rental markets in the country.
Common Sense vs. The NDP
The NDP and their allies spent years demanding rent controls. We rejected their failed policies because we know you cannot legislate prosperity. While they shouted for government caps that kill investment, we unleashed the free market.
And the verdict is in. Our common-sense approach built more rental units in the last five years than the previous 30 years combined. We proved that the only way to lower costs for families is to build more homes, not create more bureaucracy.
The Engine of Canada
Alberta is carrying the country’s housing market. With just 12 per cent of Canada’s population, we are building nearly 25 per cent of its new homes. While the rest of the nation struggles under the weight of high taxes and red tape, our low-tax, high-freedom approach is delivering real results.
We are keeping Alberta the best place to live by doing exactly what we promised. We are getting government out of the way so you can get ahead.

More good news on affordability. The average rent in Alberta is nearly $400 less than the national average and our rental rates fell by nearly twice the national average in 2025.

That’s because we are building homes and purpose-built rentals at record speed. In the last 5… pic.twitter.com/G9dC8RVa22
