United Conservatives are standing up for hunters, sport shooters, and every law-abiding firearms owner in Alberta. Ottawa’s expensive gun grab does nothing to stop violent crime. Instead, it targets the wrong people and wastes hundreds of millions of dollars.
As long as there is a United Conservative government, Alberta will not enforce this Liberal gun grab. Law enforcement will be directed to focus on real priorities. That means going after violent criminals, not hunters and sport shooters.
Even Ottawa admits the program will not work. The federal Public Safety Minister said he does not believe it can be properly enforced. The Ontario Provincial Police have refused to take part. Leaked audio shows Ottawa’s own ministers doubt the policy. Yet the Liberals keep pushing this scheme to satisfy voters in Quebec instead of keeping Canadians safe.
United Conservatives have already taken action. We stopped municipalities from bringing in local gun bans. We made it illegal for anyone to seize, store, or destroy firearms in Alberta without a licence from our Chief Firearms Officer.
The Liberal buyback scheme is expected to waste more than $700 million. That money should be used to crack down on gangs, stop smuggling, and keep violent offenders off our streets.
United Conservatives will continue to fight for Alberta’s right to regulate the legal use of firearms. We are defending the rights of law-abiding Albertans and keeping the focus on real public safety.
