A bold 10-year plan for cancer care

Earlier diagnosis and better care when cancer touches your family. On June 23, your United Conservative government launched a new provincial cancer care strategy to expand screening, speed up diagnosis and improve care for patients across the province.

Cancer affects almost every family in Alberta, with about one in two Albertans expected to develop cancer in their lifetime.

The strategy aims to improve outcomes, reduce wait times and make high-quality cancer care more consistent across urban, rural and remote communities.

It builds on real investment. Your United Conservative government has made improving cancer care a top priority, and Budget 2026 invests $1.2 billion over three years in cancer care, including $223 million in new operating funding to hire more oncologists, expand surgical capacity and increase treatment spaces. In June, Alberta had a record 205 oncologists working across the province.

Under Premier Danielle Smith, we’ve set a clear path forward, with the goal of Alberta not just keeping up but leading the country in cancer care.

Earlier screening, record oncologists and a clear plan for better care. That’s your United Conservative government getting the job done.
