Alberta students among the world’s best

Alberta’s students are getting an education that measures up to the best in the world. On September 8, the 2025 Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) results showed Alberta’s 15-year-old students are among the top performers in Canada and internationally. It’s a proud result for Alberta, and your United Conservative government will keep building on it.

Alberta ranked first among provinces in science and reading, and second in mathematics, behind only Quebec. Our students scored above both the Canadian and international averages in all three subjects. In science, the average score was 520, compared with an OECD average of 482.

Alberta’s results were also comparable to leading education systems such as Singapore, Japan, Korea and Estonia, with several results statistically tied. PISA 2025 included 83 countries.

Results like these come from the hard work of students, teachers, families and school communities across our province. Under Premier Danielle Smith, we’ll continue to give students the strong foundation they need for future success.

Top results, strong teaching and a solid foundation for the future. That’s your United Conservative government getting the job done.
